Austin, Year 4, Day 288: Wrapping It Up

What a week this has been.

 

For some of you reading this, it will seem repetitive.  The same pictures, the same events.  If you’ve already seen it on Facebook, I won’t be offended if you skip it.  :)

 

Lots of great changes around here.  Last week, we signed the lease for our new house back home and began packing up our apartment.  Of course,  we hadn’t been packing long when we realized we had a problem.  Our old van was on its last leg and there was no way it was going to make it home.  Just no way.  The doors wouldn’t close right, the fans had gone out, and every time you closed the sliding door, another big chunk of rusted out metal fell off.  It was pretty clear we needed to find a replacement.

Review: Picture Collage Maker for Mac

A few weeks ago, I was asked to review Picture Collage Maker for Mac.  I was really excited to do this review because I have never really made my own picture collage…  I have had Walgreen’s make a few boring ones for me (because I got them for free…), but I’ve never really played around with making one.  At least, I don’t think so…  It is possible I just forgot, but whatever.

Quick Deal at CVS

On Saturdays, I try to get any last minute deals before the sales change.  Today, I grabbed this one.  It’s not really a last minute deal because it’s been available all week.  I just haven’t had time to get it.

 

What I bought:

2 Kellogg’s Raisin Bran 2/$4 ($1 ECB wyb 2) = $4

2 U by Kotex Liners, 18 ct. $1.57 = $3.14

Total before coupons: $7.14

 

Coupons used:

$1/2 Kellogg’s All Bran, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes and/or Raisin Bran printable

(2) $2/1 U by Kotex product printable

 

Total: $3 (if your CVS adjusts the Kotex coupon down to $1.57).  You will get $1 ECB back, so $2 for those four items?  Eh, not too bad.  The cash register will read those Kotex coupons at $2 without beeping or anything (it does beep at some coupons with overages, but it didn’t with this one), so if your cashier doesn’t adjust them down, you will get everything for $1.14 after ECBs.

Book Review: Michal’s Window

As many of you know, my faith is very important to me.  It has gotten me through some very difficult times.  I love my quiet time with my Bible, I love reading Bible stories to the kiddos, and I love listening to Christian music.

But…I have a confession to make.

I don’t particularly enjoy reading Christian fiction.  Yes, I feel bad about this.  That’s why occasionally, I try.  But it usually doesn’t get past the first chapter.

Why?

Well, the biggest reason is that, with the exception of Janette Oke, I find them to be poorly written and overly judgmental political.

So, I was a little skeptical about reviewing Rachelle Ayala‘s new book, Michal’s Window.  I promise my readers that all my reviews are my honest opinions, but I also know that it hurts to have someone tell you that your writing is the pits.  I know I was probably overthinking it, but yes, I was a little concerned.
