Trying to Get Your Teen Boys to Read?

Posted on

So, you say you are trying to get your teen boys to read more.  Yeah, me too.  My boys are pretty good about reading their assigned books for school, so I can’t complain too much.  Matthew is in the middle of Homer’s Odyssey right now, and Joseph is reading (and enjoying!) Perrault’s Fairy Tales.

But sometimes, they aren’t so agreeable when I suggest giving up some TV time to read an extra book or two.  Just for fun.  So I’m really glad that I found this list of books for teen boys over at Beyond the Cover.  If you have teen boys, you need to check it out.  If you or your kiddos have read any of the books on the list, let me know what you thought of them.

The Fumbletons

Many of you may already know about the Homeschool Freebie of the Day website run by the Erskine family. It is one of my favorites! But what you may not know is that the Erskines’ daughter, Jess, has created an adorable video series called The Fumbletons.

My kids already love these videos! I think Razor Trouble was our favorite, but all three are great.  I LOVE seeing what children come up with when their creativity is encouraged! Check out the Fumbletons today!

Austin, Year 4, Day 81: Halloween Bookmarks

If you are looking for something fun to keep your kids busy, I found these free printable Halloween joke bookmarks over at Teachers Pay Teachers.

I LOVE this site for two big reasons:

1) There are lots of freebies

and

2) When I do buy something, I know that the money is going to the teacher that developed the resource.  That is awesome.

If you are a homeschooling parent, this website is invaluable, but even if you aren’t, it is free to sign up.  You never know when you might need something to keep the kiddos busy on a rainy day!  :)
