Austin, Year 4, Day 151: Orange Cream Smoothies

These smoothies were super yum.  The recipe is from Money Saving Mom, which is one of my favorite frugal websites.

Not only were they super yum, they were super easy and only have four ingredients.  One of those ingredients is frozen orange slices, just as a heads up.  Yes, you can freeze your orange slices!  Buy a lot when they are in season/on sale, peel, pull apart, and freeze.  Make sure you freeze them in a single layer or they will stick together.  That can be kind of a pain later.

Orange Cream Smoothies

from Money Saving Mom

2 c. frozen orange slices

1 c. milk

1 c. plain yogurt (we used vanilla and it was good, too)

5 tsp. sugar

Put all this in the blender and blend it up.  You will probably need to use the highest setting.

And, just to let you know, your smoothie will be pulpy.  The pulp is good for you and I actually like it.  But Ysabel does not and so she strained her smoothie.  She asked me to taste it when she was done and I’ll admit, it was pretty good…and smoother than ours…  Ours were good, too.  Just a little pulpier. :)
